Metre gauge refers to narrow gauge railways and tramways with a track gauge of 1,000 mm (3 ft 33⁄8 in). It is used in many regions, including:
- Asia
- South-east Asia
- Vietnam
- Malaysia
- Thailand (long haul-train)
- Burma. Except for about 100 miles (160 km) of hill railway, the 2,000 miles (3,200 km) of Burmese railways is metre gauge.
- India - 17,000 km (11,000 mi) laid, being converted to Indian gauge of 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in) under Project Unigauge
- South-east Asia
