The Mexican Football Federation (Spanish: Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Asociación or FEMEXFUT) is the governing body of football in Mexico. In recent years, criticism about FEMEXFUT has increased[citation needed] because in addition to the local tournament and the CONCACAF Champions League, Primera División clubs are allowed to participate in 3 extra football competitions including:
- InterLiga (competition between Mexican club teams to determine qualifying spots for that country in South America's premier club competition, the Copa Libertadores de América).
- SuperLiga (CONCACAF regional cup competition in which the first place team wins one million dollars).
- Copa Libertadores de América (CONMEBOL cup competition played annually by the top clubs of South America, in which Mexican club teams participate as guests).
