It was founded by a group of doctors in 1993 under the original company named "Managed Health Care Pte Ltd" from which the acronym MHC was derived. The scope of the business has since expanded beyond Managed Health Care (ManagedCare)

MHC is now involved in other health care related businesses which capitalize on IT to connect the different stakeholders in the healthcare industry.

Through a recent branding exercise to incorporate the wider scope of MHC's business the company has incorporated the tagline "Make Health Connect" by making use of the acronym MHC.
