Michael Barnathan is a film producer who has produced and executive-produced films such as Used People, the first three Harry Potter films, Rent, Cheaper by the Dozen and Night at the Museum. He also will be the producer for the upcoming film adaptation Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief of the novel by Rick Riordan.
Michael is a graduate of New York University (class of 1980) and Great Neck South High School (class of 1976). He grew up in New Hyde Park, New York (on Long Island), the middle child of Phyllis & Morris Barnathan. He has an older brother, Elliot, a doctor, and a younger sister, Julie Ann who is an artist. His interest in theater and filmmaking began at Theater South and after he saw the Stanley Kubrick movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.
