Michael Gross (born 1952 in New York City), is an author and journalist. He has a B.A. in History from Vassar College.

His most recent book is 740 Park: The Story of the World's Richest Apartment Building (Broadway Books, 2005). Previously he published Genuine Authentic: The Real Life of Ralph Lauren (Harper Collins, 2002), My Generation: Fifty Years of Sex, Drugs, Rock, Revolution, Glamour, Greed, Valor, Faith and Silicon Chips (Cliff Street Books, 2000) and Model: The Ugly Business of Beautiful Women (William Morrow, 1995). Model was a New York Times betselling book.

He is a contributing editor of Travel and Leisure magazine and a columnist for Contribute, the philanthropy magazine; has been a guest editor of gawker.com and has also written extensively for the The New York Times, New York magazine, Esquire magazine, GQ, Vanity Fair, Town & Country and The Times.

His sister is Jane Gross, a reporter for the New York Times, where he also once worked. Their father, Milton Gross, was also a journalist and author.
