(b Eastbourne, 28 Jan 1900; d Cape Town, 24 Aug 1976). English composer. He was a pupil of Corder at the RAM (1919-25), where he taught from 1927. He is best known for his 85 songs, which fall between the popular ballad and the art song, which he performed widely in one-man recitals.
