Biography

Between 1951 and 1968, Michael Somes was the leading male dancer of the British Royal Ballet. He became a professional dancer at age 17, but did not win his first major part until he was 21. While with the Royal Ballet, Somes frequently performed with Dame Margot Fonteyn.
