Michel Pure

Pure, Michel, abbé de (1620-80). Author of biographies, novels, and a translation of Quintilian. His ‘novel’, La Précieuse ou le Mystère des ruelles (1656-8), is a rich collection of anecdotes and dialogues, giving a sympathetic account of preciosity and showing particular interest in the conversations of the précieuses and their radical ideas on marriage.
