Michelle McGann (born December 30, 1969) is an American professional golfer.
McGann was born in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was diagnosed as with juvenile diabetes at age 13 but she did not let the disease interfere with her game. She garnered victories in three Florida State Junior Championships, the 1987 United States Girls' Junior Golf Championship and honors as the 1987 top junior player in the nation.
In just her third season on the LPGA Tour (1991), she recorded five top-10 finishes, rising to 40th place on the LPGA Tour's money list. In 1995, she won her first LPGA event at the Sara Lee Classic, won her second tournament at the Youngstown-Warren LPGA Classic and won the Takara World Invitational on the LPGA of Japan Tour. The following year, McGann won the Oldsmobile Classic and State Farm Rail Classic in sudden-death playoffs and defended her title at the Youngstown-Warren LPGA Classic. She was also a member of the winning Solheim Cup team. By 1997, it was clear that she had established herself as a formidable force in women's golf having captured seven LPGA tournament titles, one international victory, and a match victory against the #1 player in the world at the Solheim Cup.
Equally as important to McGann though, are her pursuits off the course. She is especially active in the Diabetes Research Institute and as a diabetic herself, speaks regularly for healthcare organizations and women's groups around the nation. She is also the founder of the Michelle McGann Golf Classic that benefits the Diabetes Research Institute. In 2008, McGann, with the assistance of the Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties, Florida, formed The Michelle McGann Fund, a donor advised fund that will help McGann continue to further the important efforts of organizations dedicated to diabetes awareness causes. In addition, the Michelle McGann Fund will be dedicated to serving underprivileged children with diabetes.
In June 2008, The Palm Beach Post wrote that Michelle announced via her blog, that she was engaged to Jonathan Satter, a real estate executive and Chairman of the Health Care District of Palm Beach County.
McGann, with her 5'11" height and model quality looks, is one of the world's most recognized female athletes. She lives in her hometown Singer Island, Florida.
