A microskirt is an extremely short skirt which is longer than a belt but shorter than a miniskirt, and less than 8 inches (20 cm) in length. It is a more recent derivation of the miniskirt having being made and introduced at the start of the decade[when?]. A skirt of this length usually exposes part of the buttocks; to avoid this, a microskirt is often worn with tights or leggings.
