Game Description

Microsoft Cinemania is an electronic movie encyclopedia filled with film reviews, biographies, photos, and sound and video clips. Included are reviews from Roger Ebert, Leonard Maltin and Pauline Kael, and articles from Baseline's Encyclopedia of Film. Over 19,000 entries from Maltin's Movie and Video Guide make up the bulk of the reviews, with Kael contributing more than 2,500, and Ebert over 1,300. The various elements of the program are tied together with a graphical interface that allows for both casual browsing and targeted searching.

Four editions of the series were released, beginning with Microsoft Cinemania '94 and ending with Microsoft Cinemania 97. Each edition included additional content for that year, as well as further multimedia enhancements. Starting with the 96 edition, Microsoft offered limited-time updates to the software through the Internet.
