Review

On Miditation, Klaus Schulze, recording as Richard Wahnfried, invited Steve Jolliffe to collaborate. Jolliffe's flute is a nice complement to Schulze's heavy Berlin school electronica. It takes the edge off and introduces some ambient atmospheres. Schulze is adept at his electronics, so he is able to switch gears to match Jolliffe. Thus, these two long-form compositions, each over 25 minutes in length, lean more toward the atmospheric side of e-music. Samples, a sitar, and a choir complete the soundscape. This CD is one of the best Wahnfried discs. It will appeal to fans of Pete Namlook, Bill Laswell, and Edgar Froese. ~ Jim Brenholts, Rovi
