Released on CD by the collector's label IAJRC, this concert features an all-star frontline (cornetist Bobby Hackett, trombonist Vic Dickenson and clarinetist Edmond Hall) with a local rhythm section. Together they perform a blues, a ballad medley and ten hot Dixieland/swing standards (including "Struttin' with Some Barbecue," "Indiana," "Fidgety Feet" and "China Boy"). The recording quality is decent, all of the principals are in fine form and one can consider this to be a predecessor of the quintet that Hackett and Dickenson would co-lead at the tail-end of the decade. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
