(established 1964)

A multidisciplinary design agency with studios in London, Paris, and Brisbane the Minale Tattersfield partnership is perhaps best known for the design of logos, including those for Harrods (1967), the FA Premier League (1992), and the Sydney Olympic Games (1993). It has also worked in many other spheres including architecture and public spaces, as with its designs for the Hammersmith Underground Station for London Transport (1989), BP petrol stations (early 1990s), furniture designed for Zanotta, and packaging, such as that for Johnnie Walker whisky (1978) and San Pellegrino mineral water (1999). Marcello Minale (1936-2001) and Brian Tattersfield (1938- ) formed their partnership in London in 1964, both having worked for the advertising agency Young & Rubican, Minale as a designer and Tattersfield as an art director. Minale had trained in Naples and had spent some time in Scandinavia whilst Tattersfield trained as a graphic designer at the Royal College of Art from 1959 to 1962. Minale and Tattersfield were joined by other partners over the years, including Alex Maranzano in 1968 and Nohbuoko Ohtani in the late 1980s, growing from a small scale operation in the first decades of their existence to a larger international agency in the 1980s.
