Plot

Edison's Miniature was set in early 19th century America, during the presidential campaign of Andrew Jackson. The enemies of "Old Hickory" scheme to challenge him to a duel. The crusty candidate takes the bait, challenging his chief tormentor to meet him at dawn on the Field of Honor. Just before the duel, Jackson plays a miniature picture of his wife in his breast pocket. You guessed -- the miniature deflects his opponent's bullet, enabling Jackson to emerge victorious from the duel. Based on an "urban legend" of the period, Miniature was well directed and convincingly acted. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
