Minyas

Minyas, legendary ancestor of the Minyans and founder of Orchomenus in Boeotia. His reputed ‘treasury’ seen at Orchomenus by Pausanias is in fact a Mycenaean tomb. He was the father of Clymenē and other daughters. Of these it is told that they resisted the cult of Dionysus, were driven mad, and tore in pieces Hippasus, the son of Leucippē, one of their number. They were turned into bats.
