Mirny (Russian: Ми́рный, lit. peaceful) is a closed town in Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia, serving the Plesetsk Cosmodrome. Population: 30,502 (2002 Census).[2]

Founded in 1957 as a settlement for ballistic missile launch site workers, it became a closed town in 1966 with the development of the cosmodrome.

It is 9 km distant from the settlement Plesetsk and connected to it by a road and a railway. The Gorodskaya railway station is located within the town being a terminus to cosmodrome’s vast railway system. Plestsy Airport is also located nearby.
