Biography

Czech cinematographer Miroslav Ondricek polished his skills with the state-owned Documentary Film Studios. His first non-documentary work was with Czech director Milos Forman, notably Loves of a Blonde (1965), Intimate Lighting (1965), and The Fireman's Ball (1966). When Forman set up shop in the U.S. after the 1968 Russian invasion of Czechoslovakia, Ondricek followed suit, working with Forman on such American films as Hair (1979), Ragtime (1981), Amadeus (1984), and Valmont (1989). Miroslav Ondricek has also worked harmoniously with such directors as Lindsay Anderson (O Lucky Man [1971]), George Roy Hill (The World According to Garp [1982]), and Penny Marshall (Awakenings [1990]). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
