All of the engineering programs are accredited by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) except Civil Engineering which has the first batch taken in 2009.
The University also offers Bachelors Degrees in Information Technology, Computer Science and Software Engineering. The University also held a collaboration with Ghazi Elahi Bakhsh (غازي الهي بخش) University for its Fine Arts Programs.
At the moment, Main Campus Mirpur has 4 major buildings, one allotted to Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems Engineering, one to Information Technology, Computer Science and Software Engineering, one to Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and one that acts as a hostel for students. New buildings are also being built.
The Central Library which is present in electrical department devotes considerable efforts and resources to the development of a library collection. It serves as the regional reference library of engineering & technology.
The library collection includes general circulation books, reference books, encyclopedias, handbooks, periodicals, research journals, government and archive documents. The library offers specialized services in the University campus utilizing computerized retrieval of bibliographic databases containing references to thousands of articles, books, proceedings, technical reports and statistics. Others campuses' libraries are also under construction.

Undergraduate admission in MUST is very competitive. After completion of higher secondary school level (HSSC) education, a student can submit his application for undergraduate admission if he/she fulfills the minimum requirements. Students with a minimum percentage (60%) in HSSC exams with core subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English are allowed to appear in the admission test organized by the MUST and other institutions often called Engineering university & college admission test (EUCAT). The process allows all the students who qualify for the test to sit for the admission test. After the admission test, consecutive merit lists are prepared allowing the students who secured good results in both HSSC and EUCAT to get the opportunity to study in the prestigious institutions. However, for admission to B.sc and MS. programs candidates are required to appear in interviews and/or written tests. There is a good percentage of seats reserved for areas other than Azad Jammu & Kashmir and for Refugees of kashmir. The pre-requisite qualification for admission is H.S.S.C. or GCE A level or its equivalent with good grades in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
The university administration has promised many plans and visions in future. It includes following:
