Mirs Communications Ltd., or as widely known - Mirs, is a wireless telecommunications company based in Israel and a subsidiary of Motorola. It provides wireless service using Integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN) technology.
IDF vehicles which transport high-ranking officers are equipped with special phone installations so that passengers may conduct business while traveling. Such installations often include a dedicated handset for private communication and speakerphone capabilities for hands-free usage.
Mirs became the sole provider of wireless service to the IDF following the end of the IDF contract with Pelephone in 2006.
The IDF offers free Mirs phones to its commissioned officers and those soldiers in its standing army whose jobs require it.
Mirs was the first mobile carrier in Israel to offer "Kosher Phones".
