Misplaced Petticoat

Plot

This Pathe comedy is set in a European hotel, where among the guests are a crotchety non-tipper and an overly generous female tourist. Upon preparing to leave the hotel, the lady inadvertently leaves a petticoat behind. Remembering the generosity of the woman's tips, a housemaid chases after her, with petticoat in hand. The maid is stopped in the hallway by a porter, who is still angry over the stinginess of the non-tipper. To get even, the porter stuffs the petticoat in the tightwad's suitcase. Thus it is that the man's wife gives him what-for when he arrives at home with the embarrassing undergarment. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
