The Mitä hittiä chart was started in Finland in August 1992 even though there was already an existing Official Finland Singles Chart. However the Mitä hittiä chart listed the top 50 songs using a combination of singles sales and airplay. This meant a song could enter this chart purely through airplay and without being released as a single, although single sales are counted as well.
