The MM5 (short for Fifth-Generation NCAR/Penn State Mesoscale Model) is a regional mesoscale model used for creating weather forecasts and climate projections. It is maintained by Penn State University and the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
Use
The MM5 has been adapted for use in many different types of atmospheric simulations:
- Real-time regional weather forecasts [1] [2] [3]
- Tropical cyclone prediction [4] [5]
- Climate change simulation and projection [6] [7]
