Mobile DDR

Wikipedia: Mobile DDR

Mobile DDR is type of Double Data Rate Synchronous DRAM (DDR SDRAM) aimed at mobile electronics. Chips are smaller, using less board space that their non-mobile equivalents. They use several techniques to reduce overall consumption. Some examples include more sophisticated refresh mechanisms like temperature-compensated refresh and partial array self refresh, lower voltage (from 2.5V to 1.8V), lower frequencies (and lower speeds), and power down modes. Samsung and Micron are two of the main providers of this technology.
