MobileMe

A suite of Internet-based services from Apple for Mac users. Subscription based, it includes Web site hosting, photo and file sharing, remote control, e-mail, backup storage as well as e-mail, contacts and calendar synchronization between Macs, iPhones, iPod (touch models) and even PCs.

Introduced in 2002 as iTools, which was free to Mac users, it was changed to a subscription service within the same year. Later renamed .Mac (dot Mac), the name was changed again in 2008 to MobileMe. MobileMe was designed to integrate smoothly with the iLife applications that come with the Mac (see iLife). For more information, visit www.apple.com/mobileme.
