molten-salt reactor (¦mōlt·ən ¦sölt rē′ak·tər)

(nucleonics) A nuclear reactor in which the fissile and fertile material, in the form of fluoride salts, is dissolved in the coolant, which is a molten mixture of salts such as lithium fluoride and beryllium fluoride. Abbreviated MSR. Also known as fused-salt reactor.
