Moluag (Lugaid, Molloch), abbot c.530–92 was born in northern Ireland, became a monk at Bangor and went to Scotland where he founded the island monastery of Lismore c.562. Later, churches were founded from it in E. Scotland, Skye, and the outer Hebrides. In Lewis he was invoked for cures from madness. A pastoral staff of blackthorn, enshrined in gilded copper, reputedly his, survives. Feast: 25 June.
