Game Description
The game of Monopole is based almost exactly on the classic board game of Monopoly byThe game board consists of four sides with properties and utilities along each edge. Each of these properties, providing the player rolls the correct number on the dice to land on one, is available for purchase. Each player begins the game with $1500. If one player owns a property and another player lands upon this property, that player must pay the owner a specific monetary amount. Properties are, for the most part, broken into groups of three. When one player controls all three properties, he or she may choose to build houses and hotels on the property, increasing the rent other players would have to pay should they fall upon said property.
Other aspects of the game include the Pass Go, which entitles the player to $200 for every time he or she completely circles the board. There is a Go to Jail spot on the board which sends players to a jail. Being in jail requires a buy out and results in a player losing a turn. The Free Parking space is also available in this game, which involves all money spent in the game being placed in the middle of the board. If a player should land on free parking, all the money shall go to their holdings. There is an option in the game to turn free parking/free money off, as it is not an official rule.
Players may trade properties at each turn for cash or other properties. This is done to consolidate whole communities in the game and to build real estate empires and amass wealth. Players may also choose to mortgage properties when short on money. Mortgaging properties allows for a brief influx of cash, but if the opposing players should land on a mortgaged property, they do not need to pay any rent.
There are spaces marked on the board related to two decks of cards. The Chance cards offer good or bad will in the form of rewards or penalties. The Community Chest cards offer the same options but with fewer misfortunes.
The point of the game is to drive the opposing player into bankruptcy, and the winner is declared when one player cannot fund their debts.
