History

The club is based in the Melbourne suburb of Mordialloc and started out in the Federal Football Association. They played in the FFA from 1909 to 1957 and were premiers on seven occasions. In 1958 they joined the Victorian Football Association where the Bloodhounds competed in the second division. Mordialloc lost the 1965 Grand Final to Preston and made another second division Grand Final in 1976 but lost again, this time to Williamstown. The following season the club broke through for their first premiership with a 38 point win over Yarraville, under the leadership of captain-coach Geoff Rosenow. As a result of the premiership, Mordialloc were promoted to division one but their time there was brief.

Mordialloc's time in the VFA ended three matches into the 1988 season when they were forced to resign due to financial difficulties; their record was expunged. They have since played in the Southern Football League, where they won a second division premiership in 1999.
