Review

Riding high after the surprising success of "Midnight In Moscow," trumpeter Kenny Ball and his "Midnight In Moscow Jazzmen" are in typically spirited form on this lively LP. Ball's personnel was the same as previously with trombonist John Bennett, clarinetist Dave Jones, pianist Ron Weatherburn, banjoist Paddy Lightfoot, bassist Vic Pitt and drummer Ron Bowden completing the band. Highlights of the set include "That's a Plenty," "Steamboat Stomp" and Ball's delightful rendition of "Old Green River." Worth searching for by trad jazz fans. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
