Moreton Pinkney is a village and civil parish in the English county of Northamptonshire. It is in the south west of the county, forming part of the district of South Northamptonshire. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population was 364 people.[1]
It once had two railway stations, one to the north on the Stratford-upon-Avon and Midland Junction Railway (later part of the LMSR), known as Morton Pinkney, but this closed in April 1952 and one to the south of the village on the Great Central Railway known as Culworth which closed in 1958.
Surrounded by villages which are well known for their 18th century architecture using local 'brown' ironstone, Moreton Pinkney has a mixture of old and 1950s council houses.
The village church, St Mary the Virgin, dates from the 12th century, although most of the present building is much later.[2]
The village once had three pubs: The Crown, on Brook Street, and the Red Lion and Dun Cow on Upper Green. The Red Lion (more recently known as England's Rose) closed c.2004.
