Biography

After moving to the Atlanta suburb of Marietta, GA, to live with his grandparents, singer/guitarist Zach Tipton started playing in a band with some new friends of his, drummer Bobby Theberge, keyboardist Chris Firebaugh, and an unnamed female vocalist. But Tipton soon grew tired of their dance-rock direction, prompting the crew to switch out their extra singer with bassist DJ Schulz, and the guys started playing a more grounded indie rock clattering under the name In Vitro. The quartet recorded the three-song EP I'm Dying But I Still Don't See Anything at the beginning of 2006, and by spring, they had -- weirdly enough -- inked a deal with Victory Records, a label usually known for hardcore-leaning acts. Almost as soon as the ink was dry, however, a French punk band was discovered that already had the rights to the name In Vitro, so the guys rechristened themselves Moros Eros. (Moros is both Greek for "impending doom" and the name of the god of night's son, while Eros is the Greek god of love. Draw your own conclusions.) Moros Eros were an American alternative rock band from Marietta, Georgia. The band formed under the name In Vitro and released their debut EP I'm Dying But I Still Don't See Anything under that name, only to discover the name was already trademarked by a French band.[1] The band renamed themselves Moros Eros (Moros is Greek for "impending doom" and Eros is the Greek god of love). The band signed to Victory Records. The band's debut album I Saw The Devil Last Night And Now The Sun Shines Bright was released on October 31, 2006,[2][3][4][5][6] with the single "Today Is The Day" soon following. The band played at the 2007 South by Southwest.[7] The group's most recent album, Jealous Me Was Killed By Curiosity, arrived in October 2007.[8][9][10][11]

According to AbsolutePunk.net on April 7, 2008 they have broken up.[12]

After the Breakup

On Moros Eros' myspace page, they have posted that they have moved on and started to begin their musical life in something new. Zach Tipton has started a new band called Young Coyotes. Chris Firebaugh has joined a band named The Peppermint Confederacy. Bobby Theberge is recording a 5-song EP under the name Yahoos.
