Mossimo
Mossimo is a mid-range American apparel company, founded in 1986. Mossimo specializes in youth, teenage, and adult male clothing. It draws from street, urban and sport styles.
History of Mossimo
Established in 1986 by Mossimo Giannulli, the company started out as a volleyball shorts brand, as its designer sold his brand to retailers along the South California coast.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Mossimo's sales spread into the southeastern states when veteran sales rep Mark Andrews Rose persuaded the young company to give him the territory and a chance to expand their market. The company has since expanded internationally.
The company has experienced some financial difficulties. However, one major retailer of Mossimo is Target Stores, a national American discount chain. It is also popular in Australia, where the company manufacturers uniforms for McDonald's.
The brand was available in Canada at Zellers stores until spring 2006, when it was discontinued due to low sales.
Mossimo was acquired by Iconix Brand Group, Inc. on November 1, 2006[1].
