Mount Nemo Conservation Area

Mount Nemo in Burlington, Ontario is a conservation area owned and operated by the Halton Region Conservation Authority. It is popular with rock climbers in the Greater Toronto Area, along with nearby Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area. Its five kilometers of hiking trails connect with the Bruce Trail.

The park's rural location away from the road makes it a target for vandalism. In November 2005, vandals set fire to its gatehouse and fire crews were unable to salvage it. In March 2006, a replacement gatehouse was also set on fire. Some guests complain of thefts from their vehicles as the parking lot is often unattended during weekdays.

Rock climbing

The rock type is limestone and most of the routes climbed are sport climbing. The sport climbing begins with a 5.9 but the majority of climbs fall in the 5.10 to 5.12 range. Many of the climbers travel from downtown Toronto and frequent the area mainly on weekends.

Conservation Halton has implemented a mandatory ban on top roping to protect the ancient cedars along the escarpment.
