Mountain Dew

Movies:

Mountain Dew

  • Release Year: 1917

Plot

According to historians, many city-bred writers found it necessary to travel to the rural backwoods in search of "local color" for some story or other. In this film, as can be guessed from the title, this particular scribe, J. Hamilton Vance (Charles Gunn) gets mixed up with some moonshiners. He takes a shine to Roxie Badley (Margery Wilson), the illiterate daughter of one of the aforementioned moonshiners and decides to stick around as a schoolteacher. The moonshiners think that he's a revenue officer, which endangers his life. It doesn't help that Lilly Raines (Mary Borland) is jealous of the relationship between her cousin Roxie and the handsome young schoolteacher. But Roxie gets an education, and eventually a husband, and the moonshiners accept the writer into the family. ~ Janiss Garza, All Movie Guide
