Mr. Freeze is a steel roller coaster at Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka, Missouri. It is a mirror image of the coaster by the same name at Six Flags Over Texas. It uses a linear induction motor (LIM) launch system to accelerate riders from 0 to 70 mph in 3.8 seconds.

Overview

In June 2006, all Premier LIM rides underwent emergency inspection and were closed. They were closed because of an accident on Batman & Robin: The Chiller, where a wheel bearing cracked and caused the train to come to a grinding halt on the lowest part of the track. This problem apparently existed on all of Premier Rides' coasters with booster LIMs. New wheels and bearings were ordered and have been replaced. Even though Mr. Freeze was closed for the 2006 summer season, it did reopen for Fright Fest in October.

For 2009, Mr. Freeze received a new paint scheme consisting of dark blue track and supports.

Rider experience

The ride begins with the train sliding to the middle of the station to the "launch position". The lights in the tunnel turn on and a siren can be heard faintly from the station, but can be heard clearly from outside. The sound of the brakes releasing is heard, the LIMs turn on and launch the ride and the lights in the station dim. LIMs launch the train through the 190' tunnel from 0 to 71.8 MPH in 3.8 seconds and up into an inside tophat (to the right) that flips riders completely upside-down. This element is followed by an overbanked turn to the right and a vertical spike. As the train climbs this spike and slows, it is gently pushed up almost all the way to the top by another set of LIMs. The LIMs stop and the train runs the entire course in reverse.
