Mtsensk (Russian: Мценск) is a town in Oryol Oblast, Russia, located on the Zusha River (Oka's tributary) 49 kilometers (30 mi) north-east of Oryol. It stands on the MoscowSimferopol highway. Population: 47,807 (2002 Census);[1] 48,400 (1989 Census);[2] 28,000 (1970).

The settlement of Mtsensk was first mentioned in 1147 under the name of Mchensk (Мьченск) of the Principality of Chernigov in Ipatievo Chronicles. In 1320, Mtsensk was annexed by the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In the early 16th century, it became a part of the Russian state. It obtained the status of town in 1778.

There is a country-house museum of Ivan Turgenev called Spasskoye-Lutovinovo some ten kilometers north of Mtsensk.
