Biography

Though he had been working in cinema since the dawn of talkies, sound mixer Murray Spivack did not receive an Oscar until he collaborated on the sound of Hello Dolly! (1969). One of Spivack's most famous projects was the sound for the original King Kong (1933). Spivack started out at age 12 as a professional drummer and did not enter the film industry until he signed with RKO in 1929. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
