Review
Anyone who honestly believes that disco died with the 1970s needs to listen closely to Vol. 2 of TSR's excellent Music for a Hot Body series. Designed to keep bodies moving on dance floors and in gyms, this nonstop dance mix focuses on Hi-NRG songs that TSR either recorded itself or licensed from various European labels in 1985 and 1986. Exhilarating gems such as Lime's "Unexpected Lovers," Angie St. Phillips' "Light Up My Heart," Shawn Benson's "Seclusion," and the Pamela Stanley/Paul Parker duet "Stranger (In a Strange Land)" point to the fact that 1980s Hi-NRG was very much a continuation of late 1970s Euro disco. To be sure, the production is a lot more high-tech than what you would have heard on a release from Silver Convention, Munich Machine, or Cerrone in the late 1970s, but the parallels are certainly there. This album makes it clear that disco was alive and well in the mid-1980s, even if it was no longer going by that name. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music GuideTracks
