Review

Sicily's ancient Holy Week customs include processions of vocalists whose music -- polyphonic choruses and melismatic solo parts -- represents a particularly clear example of the way in which "folk" music can adopt and orally transmit forms that began life as "art" or (official) church music. Musically very rich, these recent recordings are also a fine addition to the far-too-short list of material documenting the great riches of Italian traditional music . ~ John Storm Roberts, Original Music, All Music Guide
