Review

Wesla Whitfield has a beautiful voice; the ability to sing long, unwavering notes; and a fairly straight but lightly swinging style. She sticks to the music of Harold Arlen throughout this delightful set. Assisted by pianist/arranger Michael Greensill, cornetist Warren Vache, bassist Michael Moore, and drummer Colin Bailey, Whitfield sounds at the peak of her powers on such tunes as "Let's Fall in Love," "Happy As the Day Is Long," "As Long As I Live," and even "Ding, Dong the Witch Is Dead." Highly recommended. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
