Plot
Directed and produced by Canadian college graduate Mike Johnston in order to pay off his own student debts, this documentary centers around the financial difficulties of post-graduation life. Using his alma mater, Peterborough's Trent University, Johnston follows the money trail from the government to the student, making sure to document all of the bureaucracy in between. Johnston confronts collection agency personnel, politicians, recent graduates, and even his own father with a self-deprecating sense of irony reminiscent of Michael Moore's Roger & Me. My Student Loan was the fastest seller at Toronto's Hot Docs International Film Festival and was selected for the Calgary International Film Festival. ~ Tracie Cooper, RoviCredit
