Biography

At its inception, the indie pop band My Teenage Stride was the group name for solo artist Jedediah Smith. Smith, a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, grew up in Massachusetts, where he began playing the guitar at the age of 14, later adding bass, piano, and drums. Soon after, he began writing and recording his own songs. After a single and an EP ("Blackbeard's Ghost" and I'm Sorry, respectively), his first full-length album was A Sad Cloud, released by Banazan Records in 2004. The second My Teenage Stride album, Major Major, was released by Becalmed Records in 2005. By the time of the third album, Ears Like Golden Bats, released on February 20, 2007, Smith had brought in bassist Jenny Logan, drummer Brett Whitmoyer, and guitarist Dakkan Abbe. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide

History

My Teenage Stride was originally a band identity for Jedediah Smith's multi-instrumental solo recordings.[2] Smith grew up in Massachusetts, learning piano, guitar, bass and drums as a teenager.[2]

First album A Sad Cloud was released on Banazan in 2004, followed by Major Major the following year on Becalmed Records. Smith then recruited Michael Hollitscher on bass, Brett Whitmoyer on drums, Tris McCall on synthesizer, and Dakkan Abbe on guitar, this line up recorded part of the third album, 2007's Ears Like Golden Bats.[2], though in reality much of the album consisted of Smith still playing every instrument. An EP, the first complete full-band release, is expected some time in early 2008, with another full-length on the way after that.

As of August 2008 the band is down to two members - Smith and Whitmoyer.

In December 2008 My Teenage Stride recorded a festive tune for the Christmas compilation 'An Indiecater Christmas' released by Indiecater Records.
