A city in the Mekong Delta, south Vietnam, where U.S. troops created a base for the Mobile Riverine Force during the Vietnam War. The base was located at the intersection of the sole highway (Route 4) crossing the delta, and the My Tho River. The Mobile Riverine Force base at My Tho was operational between 1966 and 1969, lending support to the U.S. Army 9th Infantry Division, U.S. Navy River Patrol Boats (PBRs) and River Assault Squadrons, and the Vietnamese Marine Corps. The base was relinquished to the Vietnamese navy in November 1969.
