Dillon, Myles (1900-1972), philologist and Gaelic scholar. Born in Dublin, a son of the Irish Parliamentary Party MP John Dillon (1851-1927), he was educated at Belvedere College, UCD, Berlin, Bonn, Heidelberg, and Paris. He lectured at TCD, UCD, Wisconsin University, the University of Chicago, and Edinburgh University, before returning to the School of Celtic Studies in the DIAS. He wrote an account of the historical cycle (The Cycles of the Kings, 1946) and a survey of Early Irish Literature (1948).
