French Literature Companion:

Myriam Warner-Vieyra

Warner-Vieyra, Myriam (b. 1939). A novelist born in Guadeloupe but settled in Senegal since 1961, Warner-Vieyra deals economically, in diary or flashback form, with the difficulty of being a Caribbean woman. Her pathetic heroines, trapped, uprooted, deranged, write out their traumas in Le Quimboiseur l'avait dit (1980) and Juletane (1982).
