Review

This is one of the best albums by the band. Often called "the mature album," for this record the band took another artistic direction and a remarkable leap forward, incorporating new sounds into their reggae roots. Singer Bahiano is searching for his own voice, leaving behind his El General's affected style. The result is not as danceable and joyful as on previous albums but it's fully enjoyable. It includes two covers: "Monkey Man," a reggae classic composed by Toots Hibbert from the Maytals, and "Los Libros de la Buena Memoria" from the '70s Argentinean band Invisible. "Sin Cadenas" and "Pupilas Lejanas" were the big hits. The album's outstanding trait is its diversity, revealing the band searching for their own unique identity. ~ Iván Adaime, Rovi
