Plot

This film is a part of a five-volume series that explores religious stories, myths, and mysterious phenomena around the world. In this episode, the viewer travels to the desert of Peru to see the Nazca Lines. The Nazca culture flourished in Peru from about 200 B.C. until 600 A.D. The Nazca Lines are large representations of animal figures and abstract designs that have been made by removing stones from the tableland, exposing the lighter earth beneath. Debate has long continued as to the purpose and meaning of the lines. Are they religious symbols meant to honor the gods? Are they astronomical markings? Do they direct extraterrestrials to that location? The film looks at some answers to these and other questions. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, Rovi
