If you're a Dutch municipality and want a loan, Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten says "Eh, what The Hague." The Dutch bank is a government-owned entity that helps finance the operations of the country's public institutions. The bulk of the bank's lending power goes to the country's housing corporations and mortgage funds -- nearly half of total lending -- followed by municipalities, which account for more than a quarter of lending. Other borrowers include Dutch public utilities and health care institutions. Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten (BNG) is half owned by the state, with the balance owned by municipalities and provincial authorities.
