1. The second son of Aaron the high priest (Ex 6:23; Num 3:2; I Chr 6:3). Together with his brother Abihu, his father, Moses and 70 of the elders of Israel, he ascended Mount Sinai and beheld the Lord from afar (Ex 24:1). Later, he became a priest (Ex 28:1). He and his brother died before the Lord when they offered alien fire upon the altar. They were both childless (Num 3:4; I Chr 24:2).
2. The son of Jeroboam No. 1, king of Israel, 907-906 B.C. Succeeding his father, he began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah. Although it is recorded that he reigned for two years, it must have been less as he was murdered by Baasha, the son of Ahijah, at Gibbethon, in the third year of Asa's reign (I Kgs 15:25-28). His death and the death of his family marked the end of the house of Jeroboam (I Kgs 15:29).
3. A descendant of Hezron; of the tribe of Judah. The son of Shammai and the father of Seled and Appaim (I Chr 2:28, 30).
4. A man of the tribe of Benjamin. The fifth son of Jeiel of Gibeon and his wife Maacah. The brother of Abdon, Zur, Kish, Baal, Gedor, Ahio, Zecher and Mikloth.
